These Boots Were Made For Walking...

Oh yes. They definitely were. And that's just what they'll do.

Black brogue wedges with studs!
Shoes are something bigger girls can always rely on, my feet will never change and I'm nearly always a size 7, apart from in Topshop who are bastards with sizing anyway.

I work in Schuh, I'm not sure if they're all over the world but they're definitely in the UK. They sell Irregular Choice, and I've always been a bit on the "they're too expensive for how naff they actually are" side of Irregular Choice, but they're a big seller, especially in Liverpool where the girls love high heels.

Now my store has not had these in. If they did I would definitely change my opinion on the brand Irregular Choice. And for this I am very angry, no outraged, at being withheld these works-of-art. I have been saving my 40% discount for something very special, and I cannot afford £125 on the Irregular Choice website. (I'm a size 7, euro 40 btw just in case anyone wants to buy me these)

I can't really walk in heels, but these with a hidden wedge and a not to high slope, and with being fastened in I can walk in wedges. I will wait and see if they come into Schuh, if not I'll have to suffer with some poor imitation from New Look for £25.

Which every Tom, Dick and Harry will have, although they are still lovely, just not as beautiful as the Irregular Choice. Guess I'll have to bite the bullet, stop moaning, get what I pay for and just lust after.

Anyway Bravo Irregular Choice, a beautiful, wearable shoe that anyone can wear.

OOTD - Denim Shirt!

So, technically, this isn't really an outfit of the day, it's from a couple of weeks ago when my lovely friend Roisin was moving back to (one of my favourite places in the world atm) Brighton. She is originally from there but has lived here for ten(?) years. I'm not quite sure the actual length of time but it's been quite a while. Anyway I miss her quite a bit after spending the majority of the starting months of my summer with her. Hope she's having a brilliant time, I've been awful with keeping in touch.

Roisin is on the left, the beauty and Lucy is my friend, the one on the right. I love Lucy's face in this she looks in her element, or much like this fellow..

She doesn't normally look like this AT ALL I must reiterate this fact, she is very pretty, but it's just this photo. I've probably embarrassed her loads now but I love her and she is REALLY pretty, its just the angle.

Anyway I'm using these photos as my camera is still broke, the tutorial didn't work, Ill either have to look at getting a new camera, or taking it to a better, less lazy camera shop that might be willing to actually help me rather than try and sell me a new camera just to make money. I also had to take this picture above using my laptop webcam, really sorry about the quality on that!

Mmmm noice sexy pose going on there Gem, better keep that bad boy to myself next time... NAT.

Denim Shirt - Primark
Floral Dress - New Look
Leggins - M&S
Converse - Schuh
Brown Belt - Dorothy Perkins
Slouch Bag - New Look
Necklace - Muse
It was quite humid at the time, and I am what is known as a chronic sweater. Its not a medical condition I'm just quite sweaty. I'm sorry to tell you that disgusting fact about myself anyway. I needed a light outfit and leggins almost always comes into light outfits as I'm not a fan of the tops of my legs (but I am quite taken by my shapely calves if I do say so myself ;)) Anyway I teamed my denim shirt with a floral top and a brown belt. I wanted quite a casual laid back outfit as it was a Sunday afternoon for a pub lunch. Teamed with my trusty converse as always, which I need a new pair of after two/three years as I have a little hole where my little toe pokes out when it gets too hot, cheeky little toe.

(Thanks to Adele for taking these photos, my love!)

The denim shirt has been such a versatile look, I have worn it with everything (see my last OOTD post) and anything including (SHOCK HORROR) A DENIM SKIRT. Note: I am totally against double denim but as the two denims were different, light shirt, dark denim high waisted skirt, I THINK I avoided looking like a total 80's cowboy remixed.

I quite like the vintage retro style of oversized painters denim shirt, and have been on the look out for one on ebay. They toughen up a girly dress or add a casual edge to an otherwise pretty outfit. They're great for layering up when it gets chilly, especially now (even in August!!?) And look great tucked into denim skirts or shorts like I tried out.

How do you wear your denim shirts? Are you a loverrr of the double denim look or do you think it always will and always has been a fashion mistake!?

Thanks for reading, and commenting really apprecciate it!

Broken Camera :(

Sorry I've had no outfit posts lately my camera has been messed up royally. It won't flash! I have a Nikon D40 and I've had it for about 2 years now. It is a bit battered on a count of me being so clumsy and heavy handed, but it means alot to me, which sounds stupid as it's only a camera. But I have never had any technical faults with it, and it has been so loyal to me, pssh crying over a camera. I sent it off, took it to the shop and EVERYTHING and nothing, nada. Costing me money I don't have! Anyway I found this video on the internet and I am in the process of fixing it.

So lets have a look see...

Levis & 8 Questions.

I have ordered these jeans, I have really wanted some Levis for a while now after getting crappy jeans from shops like Next, M&S, Dorothy Perkins, Evans, and Asos, and just not really being happy with the quality. So I saw these babies on there site...

My love for jeans comes and goes, and I was really against denim jackets but I have began another love for them. I have a vintage Levis denim jacket (when I say I have I mean I have stolen and have absolutely loved it to death and she still doesn't know where it is) I hide it in my car for those fatshion emergencies!

What are your tendencies towards jeans and I know these are skinny and I "shouldn't" wear them but what styles do you feel most comfortable in?

Anyways on a different topic Elizabeth from The State I Am In and Jill from Jilly beansTalk tagged me in their 8 Questions posts so I feel obliged to have a go. I'm not gonna tag anyone as I don't have enough followers but if you want to have a go and say I tagged you I'll put some questions at the end! :)

Here goes boyo...

Elizabeth's Questions -

1. What is your favourite smell?
I have two, one is the overused but very exotic smell of coconuts. When I read the book "The Lovely Bones" quite a few years ago, she describes how in Heaven you can smell whatever you want all the time, I always had an image of the smell of coconuts in my heaven. The other is the perfume Issey Miyake which just reminds me of my Mum whenever she's not around.

2. What is your favourite mode of transportation?
It was the train but now its my little "vintage" VW Polo.

3. If you could only live in one country for the rest of your life, which country would it be, and why?
England, because even though I'd like to travel I'm too much of a homebody, I'm sorry that answer was so boring. I love our culture too, and just the fish and chips, yeah mainly that.

4. What is one thing that you absolutely have to do before you die?
Visit New York, just to be well cool.

5. How do you feel about a woman changing her name when she marries?
I quite like the idea and I'll probably do it, but you can do whatever you want lol.

6. What is your favourite way of keeping up on current events?
The BBC Newspage. Another boring answer! Also gossip gossip.

7. If your significant other had a terrible habit that you couldn't stand, would you tell him/her?
If it disgusted me to the very core, then yeah, but I'd probably make a joke out of it so it wouldn't upset them.

8. How do you deal with body-negative people in your everyday life?
I used to go home and cry, but now if I'm in a club and I hear someone make a little remark or whatever I'll usually tell them to stfu, which in most cases sends them running to the hills because I'm pretty scary looking when I'm angry. Actually I'm pretty scary, full stop.

Jill's questions -

1. What is the favorite outfit you ever styled for yourself?
I recently wore a velvet dress from primark with cream accessories and a vintage white bow bag on a night out with my hair up with a ribbon. I thought I looked well tidy, then when I went out I realised the rest of the world were still in flowery items for Summer! But I still thought I looked lovely haha.

2. If you could have any designer design a custom gown for you, who would you pick?
Karl Lagerfeld, even though he hates big girls I love Chanel and think they have a classic timeless style that would stay classic for years and years!

3. If someone offered you a job in the fashion industry, would you accept it?
Probably not. I can't be bothered with worrying constantly about what I look like, and having work pressure so the two combined would probably kill me off, no lies!

4. What is the one place in the world you'd like to visit?
New York, like every other girl looking for love, and great shoes.

5. If you could tag along on a world tour for your favorite band/artist, who would that be?
It would be Bloc Party, I'm not sure if you've heard of them, but just for the music really, they don't seem particularly fun. For the fun element of touring probably Katy Perry or Lady Gaga, and just for their costumes, mmmm tasty.

6. If you could walk a red carpet, which carpet would you want to walk?
I'm quite interested in music, so probably either The Brits here in England, or the MTV EMAs in whatever exotic countries theyre holding it in this year!

7. What's your favorite book and why?
My favourite book is one by Marian Keyes called Is There Anybody Out There? I love it because I'm properly into my trashy novels, that's really bad! I also love anything by Ben Elton, especially High Society because I love reading about things that are corrupt.

8. Would a reality show about your life be interesting?
To me yeah! I love the drama, bitch! To everyone else they probably would just turn it over, I'd watch it though, on my own like lol.

I hope that answered your questions anyways.

The 8 questions for anyone else is:

1. What's your favourite item of clothing you own and why?
2. Who is your style icon, dead or alive, boy or girl, famous or friend?
3. Whose your favourite person ever, dead or alive, boy or girl, famous or friend?
4. If you could had six months left to live what would be the most important thing for you to do?
5. Any guilty pleasures?
6. Favourite song ever and why?
7. Any style of clothing you hate and why?

There we go, thanks for reading this really long blog, probably of no interest to anyone but me haha oh well, hope you've had a nice weekend.

OOTD - Maxis!

Summer is nearly over and I though I'd squeeze a cheeky maxi dress blog into the mix. Maxi dresses are summer 2010 all over, with there being lots and lots of styles on the high street. And when I say lots I mean they were EVERYWHERE this summer, even when it was pissing it down and the streets were filled with water people still donned the maxi and braved the weather. Personally if you get the right style for yourself and you wear it confidently it's very cool, in both terms of the word :)

Now I'm neither tall or slim but I think with a good belt this maxi dress has given me a waist and some shape. Bang tidy!

In every high street shop there was a maxi dress as seen below, my favourite are the jersey, being larger, the jersey material is less clingy and much cooler than a polyester or satin which are still lovely, but not my cup o' tea.

I love the printed ones as well, here I've gone for a lil tie die piece, which I'd love to say I died myself, but I'm too lazy, so I'll have to thank the dorothy perkins ladies for that one. I've seen a few dresses with similar patterns in New Look and Evans too.

For my ultimate maxi dress cool I have paired with wavy hair a la Rachel Bilson! A denim shirt, another summer staple which I'd like to do a blog about before the summer sun disappears, and brown accessories. I also think an on trend top knot as seen in my last OOTD post would look lavly! Wear with sandals now and boots later!

The Maxi dress (God I'm licking it's arse aren't I?) has won so many followers the design is being carried through to winter. For me this means throwing on a leather jacket and some converse (which I couldn't find). But you could also throw some chunky knits on like the ones seen in my Evans post, and some lovely tan boots.

Needless to say I have loved the maxi dress this summer, it's meant less of "ooh blimey, I got a sweat on!" and more "ooh lavly breeze right there ;)" I think I overused the word love in this post but I've gotta direct my attention somewhere, and right now I'm in a complicated relationship with my wardrobe.

How do you wear your maxis? Will you be wearing them in autumn!?

P.s. Sorry about the cheesey schnaaaps, thought I'd smile, I looked reet miserable in the last post :)

Evans A/W Collections..

Ok, so I'm a bigger fan of winter than I am of summer. I love the romance of it all, the colours and I even like the rain a little bit. But most of all I love the clothes (and not just because I look much better in clothes than I do without clothes, but that is one of the reasons!) There is so much more style around in winter, the tights, jeans, boots, jumpers (ooh I love 'em big, and soft, like my men). One reallly great example of this amazing winter style that we've seen on the cat walks is the great Evans A/W style. I think as many other fatshion bloggers have stated, one of the best lines they have ever done, so fashion forward yet purse friendly. I'll probably buy all of it.

The first line I chose to comment on was the Eden line, apart from that awful kaftan thing, which might look great on you, but I hate sheer sleeves. This is so autumny I love it! The leather, sheepskin lined jacket is seriously what I need to be seen in this winter, I'm thinking of starting my own "buy gemma a leather sheepskin lined jacket thing charity". I need it.. and if someone doesn't donate money, or it, I may have to walk around naked, which NOBODY wants believ
e me!
On a serious note though this is so different and fresh from anything we usually see at Evans!

This is the next range from them I wanted to highlight, the Rococo range. All my christmas outfits sorted with the brocade detail on that gold dress! So in this A/W 2010. And the chunky knit, great for shopping and buying more clothes in might I add. I am also going to point out the Gold, sequin dress, but this is all for me, noone else may buy it. Also it's my christmas party dress, if any suggest fancy dress I will sit on their faces, again nobody wants that!

I really hope when I go into the Evans store that these clothes match my expectations, I have been praising them all too much.

All photos from the Evans online blog... here

Another beautiful collection from the Arcadia group are from Dorothy Perkins. I cannot actually see each individual piece, and the blog will explain a bit more than I can but here is a
photo. One thing I want to know is why tease? It's like letting my lick the icing but then taking the rest of the cake away!? (another fat simile)
Mmm grey fur, cream ruffles, and pale blue dresses with sequins baaaah.

And the information on this is available here

Well I gots some new clothes so Ill do an outfit post. :)

OOTD - Tribal!

Ok, so my first outfit post is the tribal look, gr! Every outfit I post on here I will try to accompany it with one of my fashion scrap book ideas (must come up with a catchier name). Basically it's just looks I have pulled from various fashion magazines such as LOOK, Glamour, InStyle and Vogue to name a few, and have scrapped together.

So here's the tribal look. A lot of the items are high street in my scrap book, with some high end such as Kurt Gieger Shoes (left page right top corner). I also gather looks from celebs and street style, the bottom two looks on the right page.

I then interpret them into my own look for me!

I think the tribal look is key to any summer, you can adapt it for the beach with a floaty kaftan, or punchy bikini/swimsuit.
My look is for the bigger girl in the city, I LOVE these printed tribal harem pants, so comfy, made from a jersey material. I paired them with a black top (any girls wardrobe staple)and tan accessories to complete my tribal inspired look. My trusty denim jacket also enhanced the look making it even more city chic I think!

I wore this outfit for a relaxed dinner with some friends. Laaavly.

I personally think that harem pants give bigger girls a waist, whilst other people disagree and think they should stay firmly on the legs of skinnier girls. I think they're flattering, trendy and comfy!
Black top - Dorothy Perkins £5
Woven Belt - Topshop (unsure of price)
Harem Pants - (on sale) ASDA George £7.50
Heeled Sandals - New Look £10
Beaded Necklace and Metallic Bangle - Mothers old stuff.
